Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that occurs in childhood and affects a person's thinking, perception, problem solving and social interaction abilities. Although the cause of ASD is not fully known, the interaction of genetic, environmental and neurodevelopmental factors is thought to play a role.
